Here we have collected the most common questions you ask us. Feel free to contact us if there is anything missing or if there is anything you think we should include.

Lift pass

- Can we buy lift passes in the facility?

We recommend everyone to buy their lift pass online before coming to the facility. It is both quick and easy as you can pick up a new card in a pickup box, or slide straight into the elevator if you already have a lift pass.

- Can I use an old lift pass and top it up?

Yes, as long as the card has a card number (14 digits) behind it and the card is an AXESS card, it can be used again. Select "Top up ski pass" in the shopping cart. Read more about buying lift passes here. 

- Can I change the date if I have filled in the wrong date?

You can, but not online. You must contact [email protected] by email . Read more about buying a lift pass here. 

- Can I top up 0-6 years old on an existing lift pass?

If you are going to buy this alone, it must be purchased together with a new Axess WTP / ski pass. You cannot top up 0-6 years old on an existing card you have.  here.   

- Can I buy a card with any day in season?

Yes, but these are not available in the online store, so these cards must be purchased at the guest center. Read more about buying a lift pass here. 

- I have refilled cards online. Do they need to be activated before I can use them?

No, just go in the lift and the card will be activated in the lift pass reader.  here.  

- I have bought a new card online, where do I pick it up?

Then you have received a confirmation email with a QR code, you can scan it in the pick-up boxes in front of the lift ticket sales at either Mellomstasjonen or Skitorget on the west side.  

- How do I buy a lift pass?

The easiest way is to buy lift tickets online. An Axess WTP ski pass must be used in the facility. On the homepage, you first select the desired product and enter the date for when the lift pass is to be used. In the next step, you choose whether you want a new ski pass, or to top up a ski pass that you already have. Read more about buying a lift pass here. 

- I have bought a lift pass on a given day, but see bad weather has been reported. Can I get a refund?

We refund unused cards only in the event of illness, against a doctor's certificate no later than one day before. Please contact [email protected] in case of such inquiries.

- We have been to Kvitfjell on skis, but several of the lifts had to close due to bad weather or technical problems. Do we get a refund?

This depends entirely on how many of the lifts close and for how long. There are separate refund rules for service interruptions in the facility, which you can read more about here.

- Do you have separate prices for companions?

Yes, we have. The companion receives a free lift pass upon presentation of the companion certificate and attendance of both the companion and the holder of the companion certificate at our guest center. 

I'm having trouble buying a lift pass. How do I fix it?

Try a different browser. We experience that Safari sometimes has problems and our recommendation is Google Chrome. If you still can't do it, contact [email protected] for help.

Ski rental and shop

Where can I rent skis/snowboards/telemark equipment?

We have two ski rentals in Kvitfjell. One is located at Skitorget (https://goo.gl/maps/t3Z7XeiZFYsifqrN6)

and one at Mellomstasjon (https://goo.gl/maps/MUUJHnwUayLoYZct5) NB! it is not possible to drive a car down to the ski rental at Mellomstasjon in winter.

- Are there sports shops in Kvitfjell?

Yes. There are two sports shops in Kvitfjell. At Mellomstasjon, the store is located on the lower floor of Gudbrandsgard Hotel, with entrance from the ski slope. Below is ski rental with  bootfitting workshop with sale and customization of skis and ski boots. 

At Skitorget, the shop is level with the ski slopes. There is also ski rental.

- Do you have a ski workshop?

Yes, we have two ski workshops. They are located in the ski rentals on either side of the mountain. New from 2022 is that we have a robot from Wintersteiger that sharpens skis at the ski square. 

- Do I need to book skis in advance?

We recommend all our guests to book skis in advance. That can be fixed here.

Ski school

- Are there ski school offers in Kvitfjell?

Yes, we have ski school suitable for all ages and levels. Both group and private lessons. 

- How do I book ski school?

You can order online here. Ski school should be booked in advance so that you are guaranteed a place. 

- Where can I find the meeting points for my lesson?

Meeting places for ski school are at lift I on the west side and lift G at Mellomstasjonen.

- How do I contact the ski school?

You can contact the ski school by email [email protected]

- Where is the ski school reception in Kvitfjell?

The reception is located in the shop at Skitorget, and inside the sports shop on the east side.

Lifts

- Do you need a lift pass to ski in the children's areas Kids Skitorget and Kids Gudbrandsgard?

You do not need a lift pass to only ride the belt lifts.

- How many lifts do you have in total in Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg?

We have 14 lifts, 4 chairlifts, 1 transport gondola, 2 T-hooks, 4 bowl lifts, 3 belt lifts. 

Parking

- Does it cost anything to park with you?

No, it is free to park in the facility.

- Should we be early to get a seat?

On the biggest holidays, it can be worthwhile to arrive early, but mostly there is always room. There are parking spaces at the Middle Station, the West Side and in the bottom station.

- Do you have charging points for electric cars?

The car can be charged at Gudbrandsgard Hotel or at Kvitfjelltunet in Fåvang where there is a fast charging facility.

Trails

- How many slopes are there in total in Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg?

In total, there are 34 kilometers of alpine trails in Kvitfjell. 11 green, 13 blue, 6 red and 3 black. 

- We have small children who have not skied much, where should we start skiing in the facility?

We have two children's areas in Kvitfjell. Kids Skitorget is located on the West Side and Kids Gudbrandsgard is located at Mellomstasjonen. Both areas are easily accessible by car.

- When do you prep the trails and how often?

The trails are prepared after the lifts close. In snowy weather, it is prepped later and through the night. We ask everyone to stay away from the ski resort outside opening hours for safety reasons. 

- Can we buy your trail map?

Yes, you can buy this by contacting Henrik Reintz, who owns the rights to the map. Contact us by e-mail [email protected] 

Park and children's areas

- How many parks do you have in Kvitfjell?

We have two terrain parks in Kvitfjell. Kvitfjellparken at Mellomstasjonen and the Kids Park on the West Side. Learn more about our parks.

- How many children's areas do you have in Kvitfjell?

We have two children's areas in Kvitfjell. Kids Skitorget is located on the West Side and Kids Gudbrandsgard is located at Mellomstasjonen. Both areas are easily accessible by car.

- Are there forest trails at your place that are nice for children?

Yes. Vardenskogen and Pudderskogen are great for children. We recommend that the youngest children are accompanied by an adult in Pudderskogen. 

Toilet, shower and baby changing room

- Where are there toilets we can use in the facility?

There are toilets in the warming room at Mellomstasjonen, the warming room Fossen on Vardensiden and in all restaurants.  

- Is there a baby changing room in the facility?

Yes, at the handicap toilet Skitorget and at Gudbrandsgard Hotel. 

- Are there showers you can use in Kvitfjell?

The wellness area at Gudbrandsgard Hotel can be used (for a fee).

Opening hours Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg

- When does Kvitfjell open?

Kvitfjell Alpine Resort is usually one of the first resorts to open, with the season starting in November. The start of the season is 100% weather dependent. If it is not cold enough to produce snow, the start of the season will be postponed.

- When does Kvitfjell close for the season?

The last opening day of the season is Easter Sunday, April 21, 2025.

- When does the lift open? 

The lifts open at 09:30 every day, and are open until 15:30, 16:00 or 16:30 depending on the light conditions throughout the season. We also have night skiing in some lifts and trails until 20:00.

Travel to Kvitfjell

- Where is Kvitfjell located?

Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg is located in Fåvang, in Ringebu municipality about 60 km north of Lillehammer and about 3 hours drive from Oslo.

- How do you get to Kvitfjell?

It is possible to get to Kvitfjell by car, train and bus. Kvitfjell also has its own train stop, Kvitfjell station, which is perfectly located right by the chairlift at the bottom of the area. From here you can more or less slide straight down to the lift and up to the mountains. There are also ski lockers right by the disembarkation where you can lock up your belongings if you are here on a day trip. The train that runs here is run by SJ between Oslo and Trondheim all year round. 

- How far is it from Hafjell to Kvitfjell (measured to Kvitfjell Mellomstasjon)?

  • Hafjell - Kvitfjell: 45 km, 45 min
  • Lillehammer - Kvitfjell: 60 km, 55 min

- Where is Kvitfjell's train station located and where do we pick up those who come by train?

Kvitfjell station is located in the finish area in Kvitfjell and the train stops at Kvitfjell station where you can go straight down in the elevator.

- What does it cost to rent a cabin in Kvitfjell?

Cross-country skiing and cycling

- Where does the cross-country track start?

There are several places to start your cross-country skiing trip in Kvitfjell.

  • The middle station: at A bite of Norway restaurant at the bottom of trail 9
  • The top: take chairlift B or C to the top and start the hike at trail 30
  • West side: at the bottom station of chairlift C
  • Varden: take the chairlift N and start the cross-country skiing tour at Varden Restaurant.

General information about Kvitfjell

- How high is Kvitfjell?

  • Kvitfjell Alpine Resort has 853 meters of elevation gain from top to bottom.
  • The top of Kvitfjell is 1032 meters above sea level.
  • The bottom station of Kvitfjell is located 185 meters above sea level.
  • The intermediate station is located 740 meters above sea level.
  • The bottom station to Vestsiden and Varden is located 700 meters above sea level.
  • The top of Varden is located at 948 meters above sea level.

- Why is it called Kvitfjell?

Kvitfjell gets its name from a small mountain peak, Kvitfjellet, which you can see from the top of the ski resort. This mountain peak is of a light rock, and looks white even in the summer when the snow has melted. Grammatically correct, you say "in Kvitfjell", not "at Kvitfjell". 

- When was Kvitfjell built?

Kvitfjell was built for the Olympics in 1994, and opened in 1992.

- Who owns Kvitfjell? 

Alpinco owns Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg. Alpinco is owned by AB Invest and DNB. Alpinco also owns Hafjell Alpinsenter, Oppdal Ski Center, Gudbrandsgard Hotel and Alpinco Hospitality.
