This season's news in Kvitfjell
The start of the season in Kvitfjell is approaching, and the destination has made significant investments to improve the guest experience for the winter 24/25. With an expanded offer for children, improved service functions and a year-round grocery store, Kvitfjell is ready to welcome both new and old guests with open arms!
Double the fun for families with children
Kvitfjell is a popular ski destination for families with children, and this season there will be even more to look forward to. Now there will be changes in the children's area on the east side, and in the Skimestering area, more play is being facilitated in the forest. Kids can explore new stretches that criss-cross between the trees, perfect for little adventurers who want to take a fun detour from the usual trails.
In addition, the length of "Vardenskogen" – the children's own forest trail on Varden – is doubled. The new trail will be a little narrower and more technically challenging, which makes it even more exciting for the little skiers. It's a perfect opportunity for kids to develop their skills in a playful way.
"We have wanted to further develop the offer for families with children this season, and it is incredibly fun to be able to offer even better family-friendly areas in Kvitfjell. Vardenskogen and the skiing area give children a fun and safe way to develop their skills, while they get to play and explore. We are looking forward to seeing big smiles on the slopes this winter!" says Anders Aasheim, site manager in Kvitfjell.

Year-round grocery - Easier for guests
We are pleased to announce that Børson Grocery will now be open all year 2025 (with the exception of May). After a collaborative project with Norgesgruppen, the store has undergone a renovation, and the product range will be significantly expanded in the future. With the opening in November 2024 and extended opening hours, it will be easier for guests to access fresh goods and necessities, no matter what time of year they visit Kvitfjell.
Commitment to safety and sustainability
Kvitfjell continues to invest in safety and sustainable operations. The oldest chairlift, Olympic Express, has received a necessary upgrade with a new cable that ensures safe and stable operation for the coming seasons.
"Olympic Express is an old trotter who has served Kvitfjell well for many years. With the new wire and updates, the lift is now ready for safe and stable operation for many seasons to come. This, together with our other maintenance investments, allows us to continue to deliver top skiing conditions to our guests," says Aasheim.
Increased capacity to meet growing demand
It is not only the west side and Varden that have had development in recent years. The number of cabins and apartments at the middle station has increased, which has led to an increasing demand for ski rental. "Some weeks last season we experienced that it was almost empty of skis with us. We are therefore meeting the demand for the coming season and expanding our ski rental." says Carin Syrtén, department manager Sport1.
This expansion means that the ski rental on the east side now uses the entire premises, which previously also housed a sports shop and guest center. The new arrangement provides a larger area dedicated to ski rental and sale of alpine skis, ski boots, as well as professional boot fitting. This ensures that guests receive equipment that perfectly suits their needs.
The sports shop on the east side is also expanding and moving into brand new, modern premises on the lower floor of Gudbrandsgard Hotel. Here it will have an ideal ski-in/ski-out location and this location makes it easier than ever for guests to stop by the store directly from the slopes. The shop will also serve as an information point, where guests can get help and answers to various questions related to the ski school, among other things. This provides a seamless and convenient experience for anyone visiting the destination and the ski slope.

Gudbrandsgard Hotel: A total experience in the mountains
Gudbrandsgard Hotel has also made several upgrades to offer a holistic and active holiday experience. The hotel is opening a brand new gym and a dedicated yoga room, giving guests the opportunity to combine relaxation with physical activity. The renovated rooms are now finished in delicate colours and with fine details, providing a pleasant atmosphere for both quiet and active moments.
As an added convenience, the hotel has also built a new, state-of-the-art ski stable. Here, guests can easily store their skis after a long day on the slopes, making it smooth and comfortable to get out skiing the next day.
"We are very proud of the new upgrades at Gudbrandsgard Hotel. With a brand new gym and dedicated yoga room, we want to offer a holistic experience for our guests. The new ski stable also makes it even easier to get out skiing, so everything is in place for a comfortable and active holiday. We look forward to welcoming both old and new guests to an unforgettable winter season!" says Ueli Bohnenblust, Hotel Director at Gudbrandsgard Hotel.
With these improvements, Kvitfjell wants to offer an even better experience for its guests, both on and off the ski slopes. The 24/25 season will be a fantastic time for new adventures, and we look forward to welcoming you to a winter filled with skiing joy and experiences!
