Alpinco and Tinde invest NOK 75 million in premium cabins in Kvitfjell
This winter, Alpinco and Tinde Hytter are launching 14 new premium cabins in Kvitfjell, tailored for the growing rental market in the mountains. The project, called Varden Chalet, is the result of a strategic collaboration between tourism and real estate players, in a model that utilizes capacity and expertise across industries, and strengthens the offer in one of Norway's most sought-after winter destinations.
We saw a strategic opportunity to strengthen the offering in the premium segment, and the collaboration with Tinde gave us quick realization and high quality. This gives us more capacity where demand is greatest," says Rune Smidesang, property manager at Alpinco.
For Tinde Hytter, the collaboration provided an opportunity to ensure continuity and employment in a time with fewer new construction projects, and at the same time the opportunity to realize values in their own land bank.
When the challenge came from Alpinco, it only took us 14 days to respond with a proposal for a business model. The collaboration gives us both activity in an otherwise quieter market, and exciting insight into the tourism part of the destination," says Andreas Haverstad, Property and Project Manager at Tinde Gruppen.
Investment of NOK 75 million
More than NOK 75 million has been invested in Varden Chalet, including land value and construction. Logg architects have been behind the design, with the goal of creating unique cabins adapted to flexible rental. The project combines innovative architecture with energy-efficient solutions, with waterborne heat from its own energy well in all rooms. Each cabin has ski-in/out, four bedrooms, a spa area with sauna and bathtub, as well as room for ten people – an offer that combines high stoves with environmentally friendly renewable energy.
A valuable addition to Kvitfjell
Varden Chalet adds 140 new beds to Kvitfjell in the premium segment. For the current season, the capacity is expected to generate about 1,200 guest nights and a budgeted value of more than NOK 3 million. In addition, there are ripple effects for local businesses through increased trade and activity.
The project shows how new collaboration models can create growth and value creation in a demanding market, while providing guests with an experience that combines modern comfort and environmentally friendly solutions. Projects like this help define the future of mountain tourism, both commercially and sustainably.
We are very happy with the result. There is exciting architecture and innovative solutions. I think the guests will be pleasantly surprised when they come in here, Rune concludes.
